The Three Yogic Burnout Types

🌬 Vata Burnout — The Scattered Storm

Feels like: anxiety, overthinking, racing thoughts, “wired but tired”

Common signs:

  • Scattered mind and inability to focus
  • Restlessness and fidgety energy
  • Trouble falling or staying asleep
  • Feeling ungrounded, like you’re floating above your life

What helps: grounding, slow, repetitive yoga flows; hip and low-back opening; long exhales; yoga nidra; cozy rituals.

🔥 Pitta Burnout — The Pressured Flame

Feels like: irritation, frustration, tension, pushing yourself too hard

Common signs:

  • Short fuse or simmering anger
  • Tight jaw, tight chest, heat in the body
  • “All or nothing” productivity
  • Constant pressure to perform or succeed

What helps: cooling, soft flows; heart-opening postures; gentle strength; restorative practices; softening expectations.

🌊 Kapha Burnout — The Quiet Collapse

Feels like: heaviness, numbness, stuckness, emotional shutdown

Common signs:

  • Struggling to feel motivated
  • Foggy, slow, or sleepy all the time
  • Feeling stuck in the same loop
  • Numbing out with food, TV, or scrolling

What helps: energizing, heat-building flows; sculpt and Pilates-style movement; standing poses; breath of fire; invigorating music.
